Four Ways Fuel Costs Get Out of Control
A fuel card statement tells you how much was purchased. It does not always tell you whether the fuel purchase made sense based on what the vehicle actually did.
Excessive Fleet Idling
Drivers may leave vehicles running between stops, especially during UAE summers when air conditioning is needed.
The result is fuel being consumed while the vehicle travels zero kilometres.
Track idle time by vehicle and driver and review fuel-wasting behaviour in a weekly idle report.
Suspicious Fuel Fill-Ups
A vehicle receives a large fuel transaction even though it has travelled very little since the previous fill.
Without vehicle activity beside the transaction, that mismatch can be difficult to notice.
Compare fuel-card transactions against distance travelled and vehicle fuel data.
Fuel Theft & Tank Drops
Fuel levels fall while a vehicle, truck, generator or asset is stationary.
With an appropriate fuel-level sensor, sudden tank-level drops can be flagged with the time and location of the event.
Requires a fuel level sensor.
Inefficient Driver Behaviour
Harsh acceleration, speeding, unnecessary detours and avoidable stops can increase fuel consumption across a fleet.
Review driver scores, route history and, where GO Focus Plus is deployed, in-cab voice coaching.
How Much Is Vehicle Idling Costing Your Fleet?
Here is what engine-on idling costs a typical 25-vehicle UAE fleet. We’ll run the same numbers with your fleet size, idle time and this month’s fuel price.
Assumes 2 litres burned per idle hour and 26 working days a month.
- 25 vehicles
- 1.5 idle hours per vehicle, per day
- Diesel at AED 2.80 per litre
Estimated idling cost
That’s AED 65,520 a year, before card misuse or theft.
Check Every Fill-Up Against What the Vehicle Actually Did
Fuel Fill-Up Reconciliation
Every fuel-card transaction sits next to distance travelled, vehicle fuel data and expected fuel use, so unusual fills stand out instead of staying buried in a statement.
Fleet Idling Reports
See which vehicles and drivers idle the most, where it happens and for how long the engine stays running.
Fuel & Vehicle Alerts
Long idling and sudden tank drops trigger alerts in the app, so your team can investigate sooner.
Start Monitoring Fleet Fuel Without Disrupting Daily Operations
Install the Vehicle Hardware
About one hour per vehicle, including calibration, scheduled around your fleet operations.
Connect Your Fuel Data
Where supported integrations are available, fuel transactions can be brought together with vehicle activity so each fill-up can be assessed in context.
Review Fuel Usage & Alerts
Your team can receive fuel reporting and review alerts when supported exceptions are detected.
Fuel Monitoring Hardware
Geotab GO9
For fleet telematics, engine data, idle time, fuel usage, GPS and vehicle diagnostics.
GO Focus Plus
For applications where knowing the actual tank level is especially important, including trucks, tankers and generators.
Useful for detecting significant tank-level changes where the sensor configuration supports it.
Fuel level sensor
For trucks, tankers and generators where you need the exact litres in the tank, not an estimate.

Built for the fleets that burn the most fuel
Monitor idling, fuel consumption, driver activity and suspicious transactions across high-mileage delivery fleets.
Track fuel usage across repetitive delivery routes and inter-emirate operations.
Monitor fuel use across delivery operations where vehicles may also have additional fuel-consuming equipment such as refrigeration systems.
Questions fleet managers ask us
Can’t see yours? Send it to us on WhatsApp.
Does it work with our fuel cards?
Yes. Our fuel management system measures fuel directly in the tank using sensors, so it works regardless of which fuel card you use. Fuel-card transaction matching can be added on request, subject to your card provider.
Do you measure the actual litres in the tank?
Yes. A fuel level sensor fitted in the tank measures the actual litres, so every fill, drain and sudden drop is recorded as it happens.
How long does installation take?
About one hour per vehicle, including calibration. We schedule it around your shifts, so vehicles stay on the road.
Which vehicles are supported?
Trucks, vans, tankers, heavy equipment and generators: any vehicle or asset with a fuel tank where a sensor can be fitted.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on your fleet size and the sensors your vehicles need. Request a quote and we will price it for your fleet.
Will our drivers feel watched?
Fuel reports are about vehicles and habits. Many fleets share driver scores openly and reward their most efficient drivers, which turns it into something drivers work toward.
